Nature as God's Artwork

Art has long been deemed as a man-made, human or creatively inspired object using materials and providing a dialogue and inspiration for the time. However, in February, I lead a team of wildlife photographers to the northern most island of Japan, Hokkaido. It was there that I was reminded of the most important artwork within our world: the natural world, which is not man's but God's, or a power beyond our comprehension's, canvas. Amongst the snow covered mountains, frozen lakes and misty rivers of Hokkaido and Nagano, we saw up close red-crowned cranes, red foxes, Stellar sea eagles, deer, Whooper swans, Macau monkeys, woodpeckers, and even yaks.
